Arrrgh! Phone Tag
I left a voice message asking a very specific question: "Hi, this is Susan Trivers, I registered online for the evening program, but I never received an email confirmation. Would you please check your records to see if my registration went through, and call me to let me know that you have it."
If you listened to this message what would you do? I hope you would check your shopping cart for my transaction. I hope you would then call my number and say: "Susan, this is Kristen, I checked our records, and yes, your transaction for the program went through. So you're all set, we'll see you there."
These couple of sentences take exactly 9 seconds to say! This is about as quick a fix to a problem one could hope for. However, Kristen did not leave this message. Instead she said: "Susan, this is Kristen. I understand you have a question about your registration. If you call me back, I'll see what I can do."
Call her back? I included my question in my message to her so I wouldn't have to call her back. When I did call back, she was busy. The person who answered the phone offered to take a message and have her call me back. I then asked that woman to answer my question.
I'm sure you can guess what the answer was: "yes, your transaction went through, we'll email a receipt."
When you play your voice messages, please listen to them and answer the questions that are being asked. This will save you time and make a great impression on the person who called. It's such a simple way to Create Magic in a Minute!

I agree 100% - it sometimes seem we make things harder than they need to be. Great point!
